Thousands of seniors each year are victims of scams, fraud, abuse, and identity theft. Seniors are often persuaded to provide their personal information to callers who offer something they might need, such as transportation to kidney dialysis appointment, scooters, or diabetic or arthritis supplies. “Once a scam artist has someone’s Medicare number, they will pass it around,” states Barbara McGinity, Texas SMP Project Director.
